Our First Meeting

I have been thinking about what would be a wonderful way to meet my next love. And so that made me think of my first meetings of all my previous loves. Only 4 stand out because they were so memorable.

My first love/crush happened at age 14 and I still remember the moment I first saw him. He pulled up in his red-orange GTO Super-charger and got out of his car to escort his younger sister, my friend, home. I was speechless as he was drop dead gorgeous, and I was only able to nod when we were introduced. I still remember the oxford button down short-sleeve shirt he wore which paled in comparison to his beautiful brown eyes and handsome face. He was a wonderful guy and I pray he is very happy today.

My 2nd love/crush was Jack. I've written about him elsewhere. (http: lettersfromnyc.mu.nu/archives/243037.php) If I were to close my eyes I would be able to conjure his beautiful smile and sparkling eyes.

Meeting my 3rd love was memorable because he almost hit me. He was a martial arts black belt and I bumped into him with such force from behind (I tripped and rammed into him by accident) that he thought I was a man attacking him on purpose. He stopped his punch mid-air when he realized I tripped and caught me before I hit the floor. We've been friends ever since.

The 4th man I fell in love with is still fresh in my mind. I met him in a parking lot of an airport. My first inner-reaction was: Wow, he's cute. I can still remember what he was wearing, down to his shoes, and the bag he was carrying.

So if I were to conjure a meeting for my future love, it would probably be in one of two ways: either me sitting down somewhere and he finding an empty chair next to me, sits down and strikes up a conversation; or we find ourselves on a line and one of us strikes up a conversation with the other. Either way, we have such an interesting conversation that one of us asks the other out for coffee.

Let's see, if I were to write that perfect first meeting it would start...

I'm sitting down reading something on my phone, when I barely notice someone that has just sat down next to me on my left. As they shift their belongings to get comfortable, something falls to the floor. We bend down to retrieve it at the same time and lightly bump our heads, which makes us both laugh. I hand him his paper and instead of saying thanks he says to me: "If you wanted to read my paper all you had to do was ask, there was no need to use physical force with me."

"If you think that's rough, then try getting the last piece of garlic toast at dinner. I have a mean hip-check that has sent men flying across rooms." And amid laughter and silliness we manage to exchange introductions, later inviting me to dinner. Woohoo!

Yes, that's definitely a fun and easy way to meet. I wonder if destiny and the universe will follow my script. Stay tuned and I'll let you know.
